Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to discover some of the theoretical and practical aspects of the criticism of six twentieth century critics of art: Roger Fry, Clive Bell, Herbert Read, Kenneth Clark, Clement Greenberg, and Harold Rosenberg. The degree to which each of these critics reaches an objective theoretical and practical standpoint in his criticism and the resulting degree of understanding about works of art is the second concern.
