Abstract
A century ago, there was little religious or cultural understanding between the East and West. In recent times, however, there has been a transformation in this attitude. Sarvepali Radhakrishnan is a pioneer of thought exchange between the two cultures. As an heir of the Indian tradition, he is convinced of its essential validity, and he also mastered the occidental perspective in order to render both Eastern and Western beliefs intelligible to either culture. The resultant books represent an informative synthesis of respective attitudes and cultural perspectives.
