Abstract

The creative process behind painting is a highly evolutionary one. It is a series of alternatives in which a great many impulses may assert themselves. However, the actual synthesis of these impulses into a whole is often not in evidence when one views a finished work of art. I developed an open-ended Senior Scholar Project because I wanted to allow a variety of ideas to run their course. I was allowing, and in fact encouraging, changes to occur in my work.
