Abstract
I think my project's title, "Nature and Abstraction in Painting", expresses basically what I try to do; to paint from nature and while abstracting in terms of color and shape, retaining a definite sense of subject. I have never worked non-objectively and at present I do not plan to; I think that for myself, the process of being concerned solely with exploring the workings of formal elements would soon feel rather lifeless. My own methods of working with formal elements have grown out of lessons learned in Design and Painting classes, modified by my own sensibilities.
