Studies toward the Synthesis of 1,3-propane-10,10-bis Phenothiazine
Abstract
My Senior Scholar endeavor is concerned with the synthesis of 1,3 propane-10,10-bis-phenothizine, which up to this date, has not been synthesized. I was awarded the equivalent time of three semester courses in which to conduct my research. After my extensive literature investigation, I attempted a laboratory synthesis. I thought my route for the synthesis would proceed because of a similar reaction carried out for 10-(3-dicthylaminoprophyl) phenothiazine. The reaction failed. In this paper, I have offered two explanations why the reaction failed, and for each explanation I have proposed a reaction that I feel will overcome the difficulties involved.
