Abstract
Through a structural comparative analysis of nine original tales of Cinderella, the Victorian novel Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte, and the movie Pretty Woman, I will examine the pervasieness of the myth that a downtrodden heroine's only opportunity for happiness is to be legitimized by a prince.
