Description
This five minute video is for the course Maine’s Musical Soundscapes: Ethnography of Maine at Colby College. The video follows Luke Duplessis a native Franco-American from Old Town, Maine, as he shares different aspects of his culture and his relationship to the music. The film highlights the importance of Luke reconnecting with his roots through learning and engaging with his fiddle teacher, Elaine Malkin. The film combines two interviews of Luke performing as he expresses his personal connection with Franco-American music. Through this film, we hope to convey Luke’s efforts to explore the Franco-American culture that was beginning to disappear in his family.
