Description
I am seeking to examine the role and influence of sports technology on society. I hope to understand the positive and/or negative effects that these innovations can pose on a potential user. I am also hoping to position its importance in modern society, by investigating the impact of sporting technologies applicable to a wide variety of potential users by examining the sport of track & field. Technologys role in the world of sports has been quite remarkable. Technology has facilitated and expedited our competitive nature in relation to athletics. Sports technology has rapidly allowed athletes to gain a competitive edge and has grown into a market with very high demand. Today more and more people are engaging in sporting activities, whether competitively, recreationally or professionally. Athletics and sports have become a part of our everyday lives, and as a result have touched competitors and spectators alike. Technology has played an immense role in sports and has served to increase overall athletic performance and satisfaction. Sports technologies have vastly improved upon equipment safety, making it safer and more enjoyable to participate in an activity. Technology has also effectively made equipment lighter, stronger and more durable, which is also directly related to increasing athletic performance. Technology can been used to record 3D measurements and also track the physiology of an athlete, allowing one to better understand the limits of his or her body. These are just a few examples demonstrating how athletes have used sports technologies. Investigating this topic will provide a clearer understanding on the connection between sports and technology, and their bigger role in society.
