Description
I will be focusing on African American women during the civil rights movement as well as beyond that. Some of the women that I will present on are Mary Church Terrell, Ida Wells-Barnett, Ella Baker, and Mary McLeod Bethune. They were educated women who then took their education and in various forms influenced others. I will discuss some of the hardships they faced as black women during this time period, as well as how they overcame those hardships and the influences that they had on those around them. I will also present the experiences of African American women in education now and how there have been changes, but also the difficulties that they still face today.
