Description
Presentation summarizing the life and achievements of autobiographical painter Georgia O'Keeffe. Slides will discuss the background of O'Keeffe, as well as the education that led to her art knowledge. In addition, the importance and influence of (future husband) Alfred Stieglitz will be examined and determined. One of the most controversial topics surrounding O'Keeffe - the interpretation of her work as female genitalia - will be argued for both sides. Does interpretation cloud the judgement of each painting? Did O'Keeffe intentionally make it feminine and controversial to stand out in a male-dominated art world? The influence that the different places O'Keeffe lived had on her artwork will also be examined and analyzed.
