Description
In last few years, increasing numbers of international students are coming to Colby. According to an article written by Hardikar, Applications from international students have grown 55% over the past five years. For the class of 2017, there are more than 70 international students representing in the first-year population. And I have learned that there will be almost 30 Chinese students are coming to Colby this fall, contributing another great growth of international population to Colby campus. With a rapidly growing of international population at Colby, increasing demands from international students have shown. Though Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid Terry Cowdrey said, I am not aware of specific strains on resources but if those are experienced when asked about how the greater number of international students may prove to put a strain on various campus resources, it doesnt mean that there is nothing to improve on support of international students at Colby. Indeed, Colby has many programs that help to support international students in different, such as the Marylow coffee hour on every Friday, the international food festival, the fabulous international extravaganza and the English 112 class. However, there are always subtle and basic things that people easily neglect. As an international student, I identify that it is necessary to make improvements on both international food quality in dining halls and the rules of selecting first-year writing class.
