Description
With the governments actions after 9/11, have national security agencies sacrificed the privacy of American citizens in the name of protecting them? Must we, as Americans, give up some of our civil liberties in the 21st century to ensure our security, or do the governments actions represent an unwarranted violation of our privacy? My thesis looks to answer these questions by outlining a framework balancing national security and privacy and then examining three separate case studies of government surveillance operations before and after the September 11th attacks.
