Description
Environmental radioactive pollution has resulted from nuclear power plant accidents, testing, and waste disposal. This project examines the public health risks associated with exposure to radiation. Short term and long term effects of radiation exposure are evaluated from multiple studies conducted following the 2011 Fukushima and 1986 Chernobyl nuclear power plant disasters. Policies surrounding nuclear power in the United States and Worldwide are assessed. The goal of this research is to determine whether or not radiation exposure is a significant human health threat.
