Description
The purpose of this qualitative sociological research study is to look at the career trajectories of Colby alumni currently working in finance in addition to seeing if variables such as gender and the cohort they graduated in may have played a role in their career development. I am interested in how institutional practices within American society in general, and the financial sector specifically, may perpetuate gender inequality or gendered patterns of labor market participation. With these findings, I hope to paint a picture as to what Colby graduates may face if they are interested in pursuing the field of finance and how those experiences may vary by gender.
