Description

Hornblende is a mineral found in igneous and metamorphic rocks. It is used for a small variety of economic applications, such as a component of paint and as a mineral specimen. In geological applications, it can be used to estimate the depth of crystallization in plutonic rocks by observing the aluminum content of the hornblende.
