Description

My research paper is looking into the effects caused by the hard alcohol ban and the lack of a medical amnesty policy for Colby Emergency Response (CER). The ban seems to have increased dangerous drinking habits, and the lack of confidentiality within CER has caused fewer students to report medical incidents for fear of getting in disciplinary trouble. Colbys current hard alcohol ban promotes unsafe drinking because students feel that they need to drink more in a shorter period of time before they leave the safety of their dorm rooms. When this dangerous binge drinking results in serious medical emergencies, our students hesitate to call for help because they dont want to get their friends (or themselves) in trouble. Based on my primary and secondary research, I will propose important changes to Colbys alcohol policies to support students health and safety.
