A 3D GIS Model of Colby College Campus

Abstract or Description

Using ArcScene and Google Sketchup I was able to create a semi-realistic, three-dimensional map of the Colby College campus. A 3D GIS map of the campus had never been made before and the project could be used in the future for: planning new building projects, running interesting visual analysis, and as a new way to view campus.

Henry Dodge is a student at Colby College studying Environmental Policy.

Source Data Note

Data was initially gathered from the Maine Office of GIS. Satellite imagery and the digital elevation models (DEM) were gathered from the Maine Office of GIS. The campus buildings vector layer was gathered from the Colby Physical Plants Department (PPD).
