Abstract or Description
This map shows the locations of schools and libraries in Maine. Schools include public and private K-12 schools, public and private colleges, as well as vocational and technical colleges. Libraries include local, school, and college libraries. The mean income for each town was obtained from census data. The goal of the map is to analyze the relationship between economic characteristics of a school district and the availability of resources associated with educational opportunity.

All Data acquired from the Maine Office of GIS (http://apollo.ogis.state.me.us/catalog/). NAD 1983, UTM Zone 19N. Economic data extrapolated from DP3 tables, which represent a "Profile Selected Economic Characteristics, 2000" from the U.S. Census Bureau "Demographic Profile" sample data product.
