Abstract
On September 27, 1998. two articles appeared in the Washington Post: one a standard piece by a staff writer. the other an editorial by British Prime Minister Tony Blair. Both articles focused on what has corne to be called the "third way," a method of governing that claims go beyond the traditional choices of left and right. The term "third way" currently describes the international centrist movement that advocates claim will define politics and government in the next twenty years. The third way's development in the United States is the topic of this paper.
