Description
Tomato sauce has been considered a staple of the Italian diet for centuries, but the history of the dish is far more complex than that. Like so many other famous recipes, tomato sauce has changed over time along with the people and countries who have made it a part of their diet. From the ancient Aztecs to Chef Boyardee, tomato sauce has a complex story closely connected to international politics and migrations. Tomato sauce recipes have changed along with the famous historical and political changes that are studied in classrooms today.
