Description

The goal of my ethnographic fieldwork is to examine to the discourse of white privilege on campus and the plications of such discourse. Some questions I used to guide my research were: What is the discourse surrounding whiteness and white privilege at Colby? Who determines this discourse? How does a form of structural violence emerge from this discourse? Are there ways for both whites and nonwhites to disrupt and this discourse to make the invisibility of this harmful discourse visible? As I continue my research, my project continues to evolve and it is too soon to have any substantial conclusions.
