Abstract or Description

This map depicts the location and enrollment of colleges and universities based in Maine. Locations and enrollments of schools are compared to the underlying population of the state of Maine. Counties and major highways are displayed for spatial reference. All data projected in NAD1983 UTM Zone 19N.

About the Author

Greyson Butler is a senior Biology major at Colby College.

Source Data Note

A list of Maine colleges and universities was found at Maine.gov, and school location data was acquired by dropping a pin in the center of campus on Google Maps and recording the given latitude and longitude. School enrollment data was provided by the National Center for Education Statistics. Population information, highway data, county boundaries, and hillshade data were compiled from the Maine Office of GIS.
