Abstract

The wonder and curiosity of humankind regarding the natural world are evident in its earliest records. Even though the term "natural product" includes amino acids, nucleic adds, and carbohydrates, it has come to signify molecules with interesting chemical features. Interesting features such as aroma, flavor, color, or bioactivity have long driven chemists to isolate, study, and synthesize these molecules.
