Description

This website focuses on a particular etching created by the English satirist Thomas Rowlandson. The image features a large carriage, traditionally called a diligence, that is embarking on a trip from a small French town towards Paris. There are many satirized characters and symbolism found throughout the picture. The website argues that the image is not only a piece of satire, but propaganda against Napoleon Bonaparte.
