Description

Maggie Abe and Jessica Kravit will discuss the origins of their visual language as painters. They started taking painting classes together as sophomores, learning basic skills through the same curriculum. About halfway through Painting III they began to turn in different directions as they discovered their own voices as painters. Maggie has pursued realism as a way of exploring her connection to art history and making it contemporary. Inspired by abstract expressionism, Jessica uses color and texture to create a language for qualities that cannot be captured in words.
