Abstract or Description

The Urban Sprawl map was created using population density data from the U.S. Census Bureau from 1990 and 2003, and shows movement of population. The data indicates that central city areas declined in population, while areas on the periphery experienced the most increase.

Source Data Note

Data collected from U.S. Census Bureau and Maine Office of GIS. Population change calculated by census block groups between 1990 and 2003. Urban Areas as of 2002.
